Winter Organ Workshop

About
- The Winter Organ Workshop is created for students to learn about – and play! – the historic Great Organ of Methuen Memorial Music Hall.
- For fall 2025, open to Winter Serenade Competition participants only.
- Open to all ages. Prior organ experience is helpful, but not required.
- Parents and teachers of registered participants are welcome to attend the workshop.
How to Apply
- Submit registration and fees for the Winter Serenade Competition separately.
- Submit registration and fees for the Winter Organ Workshop. Include your video link(s) for each event: you may use the same link / composition, or two different compositions.
- Organ Workshop Registration Fee: $55
- Registration and Video submission due October 22
- Organ Workshop Registration Fee: $55
- Participants register to play one piece or excerpt no longer than 6 minutes, and will receive guidance from Sempre Musick organist D.J. Cleavinger.
Repertoire
- Free selection of repertoire (any musical era) up to 6 minutes in duration.
- Participants may choose the same composition as their Winter Serenade application, or a different composition.
- Repertoire must be in the public domain: please bring a clean copy of your repertoire to the workshop.
Winner's Recital
- A few participants will be selected during the workshop to perform on the organ in the Winter Serenade Competition Winners’ Recitals, taking place at 4pm and 6pm on the same day.
- If a participant is selected to perform on organ in the Winners’ Recital, they may only perform once (on organ or piano).
- Recital fee previously submitted for Winter Serenade Winners’ Recital will apply, no additional payments are necessary.
- Repertoire does not need to be memorized for the Organ Workshop; memorization will not impact the selection of recitalists.
- All participants will receive a Certificate of Participation.
