It was such a joy to recently attend the 2024 “Sempre Musick Piano Competition” held in the beautiful city of Andover MA. I personally feel that this organization is one of the finest music competitions for this level of young musicians that is currently being offered in the United States.
From its early beginnings in 2018, the founder of the competition, Mila Filatova, has been able to create a youth music competition that has grown in size and scope to include Piano, Strings, and Winds along with a very successful International Music Composition Competition that now fields entrants from numerous countries throughout the world. Along with its Internationally known panel of judges offering the highest levels of expertise through the various stages of the competition, the most inspiring and memorable aspect of the entire competition certainly is the opportunity it allows for young and aspiring musicians to perform with a truly professional orchestra.
This “empowering aspect” of the competition has been a hallmark from its inception and obviously the competition provides a once-in-a-lifetime and transforming opportunity for the extremely fortunate young musicians who are chosen to participate in this prestigious annual event.

The day you give your debut performance with an orchestra is a very special day for every musician, no matter at what age the event was held. For young musicians who dream about their professional career in music, memories of their very first performance with an orchestra will follow them through their entire life. There is no doubt that playing with an orchestra is a sensational event!
As a parent and passionate supporter of young musicians, I cannot speak highly enough of the Sempre Musick program. This platform showcases exceptional young talent and fosters growth by partnering with world class conductors and giving performers the opportunity to play accompanied by a group of very talented professional musicians. It was inspiring to witness the dedication, skill and sheer enjoyment of these young artists as they shared their love for music. Sempre provides a valuable opportunity for them to shine and pursue their dreams in a supportive environment.

I have been so pleased and honored to have had students in the Sempre Musick Competition for the last several years. The organization is extraordinarily professional, very polite, and a joy to work with. Whenever one of my students is invited to perform with their orchestra, I know the student is going to have an amazing musical experience.
In 2023, I was thrilled to watch my 16-year old student Millie perform Mozart and my ten-year old student Myla perform Vivaldi. The conductors of the Sempre Orchestra always have such a generous energy and the students learn so much.

I just wanted to reach out and say thank you very much for creating Sempre Musick and giving young musicians a chance to perform with a professional orchestra. My son Spencer performed on May 27 and it was one of the best performances he’s done. It was a dream come true for me as his first teacher/mom and Spencer will always remember this experience.
